Only 42% of employers think that graduates are adequately prepared to move into the workforce.

Essentially what this says is that despite the time and funds students are investing into their education, the skills they are learning do not correlate to what the world needs in 2015 and beyond. Despite this, many white-collar organisations still require their applicants to have a degree.
